Red Tape
I don’t generally do politics here because who wants that? No one. But, I am going to have to dip my toe in the water here for just a second. I have been unemployed since Thanksgiving of 2013. Unemployed = no health insurance. So, I jumped on the Covered California bandwagon. And, aside from plenty of bureaucratic kinks, it has been excellent. So, when it came time to deliver the kiddos, I did what you are supposed to do and …
Evelyn & Olivia, Two Months
Evie and Liv hit two months on December 4. So this post is only a million years late. Let me tell you, being Type A with twins is rough. I am the type of person who hates when people take hours to text back. Now I am that person. I am the worst. At about this time two months ago I was at the hospital wondering if I was going to be sent home or if it was time. The …
whoop whoop
This post is long. The last couple days have been long. Evie and Liv got their first real cold two Fridays ago. Runny noses, low fevers, lethargic, fussy babies. They just started daycare so I was pretty prepared for them to have colds. It was a rough week. We decided to head to the pediatrician last Friday because they didn’t seem to be getting any better. It sounded like the cold was starting to settle in their chests. I thought I …
31 weeks
Last night was another night in L&D. I started having contractions at 8:30 p.m. I called my OB at 10:00 p.m. Unfortunately it was the on-call doctor, not my OB. Boo. He sent me straight to the hospital. I was not comfortable knowing that the orders wouldn’t be coming from my regular OB, but at this point, freaking out about anything is pretty much beyond my energy level. I was having contractions in my back that spread around to my …
Marriage
Two years ago tomorrow Rob got into David’s jeep and I got into Ashley’s car. We drove down to the Spokane County Courthouse. I wore a summer dress, Rob wore a tie. Ashley and David were our witnesses. Ashley signed in the wrong place. I don’t even remember what the judge said. We signed the paperwork and were married. Only my housemates were there. No one knew for months. Some people still don’t know. We got married 18 months before …
Two Weeks Out
My family arrives in one week exactly. Then exactly one week after that we are getting married. And what am I doing? Typing furiously. I must have a draft done by today to offer to my professor for proof reading. Part of my feels like, Am I missing this? Am I missing this experience because of the typing? I don’t think so. The minute my family gets here it is done. This paper will be turned in at the end …
23
Yep, I am now 23. 23 and married. 23 and almost done with my second degree. I don’t really feel 23. I would really rather not be 23. Right now I would give anything to be 21. That was a good year for me. My best year of college. The year I got engaged. At 23 I am stuck in a masters program I have no interest in, in a country that has no interest in me. I am job …
Evelyn & Olivia, Four Months
Man oh man, our babies are four months old. In some ways it seems like it has gone by in the blink of an eye, in other ways it seems time has crawled by ever so slowly. First, let’s remember this.. Two weeks old, not even five pounds. I thought they were cute then. But looking at them now.. they are cute. But more in a starved sort of way. So, where are we? They are on either side …
